FIREBRAND Games Announces Planet 51 The Game On Nintendo DS

17th June, 2009:  Firebrand Games, the International handheld development specialists responsible for GRID and TrackMania, today announce details of their next project, the Nintendo DS videogame version of the hugely anticipated animated film Planet 51.

With a US theatrical release through Sony on Thanksgiving, Planet 51 is the tale of US astronaut Captain Charles “Chuck” Baker (Dwayne Johnson, The Scorpion King, Be Cool) who lands on Planet 51 thinking he’s the first person to step foot on it. To his surprise, it’s already inhabited by little green people who are happily living in a world reminiscent of a cheerfully innocent 1950’s American. The film also features the voices of John Cleese, Gary Oldman and Seann William Scott

Mark Greenshields, CEO of Firebrand Games, commented “We have a track history of creating incredibly successful handheld titles and now, with the opportunity to work on a huge film tie-in like Planet 51, Firebrand is taking our core skill of producing triple-A driving titles into a wider arena.”

He continued “Planet 51 is a game that has many diverse elements to it and we’re committed to turning the game into as big a success as the movie is going to be. With a strong storyline and some amazing visuals we’re sure that Planet 51 is going to be a massive hit on the DS.”

Planet 51 The Game is being released in the western markets by SEGA from November 2009.

Cologne, July 20, 2009: The Mystery of Whiterock Castle positions Playtainment as the first German publisher to release a game on WiiWare™. The classic “hidden object” game, developed by the Frankfurt studio Keen Games, transports players of all ages into a medieval fairytale adventure.

The Mystery of Whiterock Castle tells the story of a young knave who sets out on a thrilling quest to find his beloved playmate. The princess has mysteriously disappeared from the royal apartments, and hidden object game fans assume the role of the young knave who, armed only with a sword and a magnifying glass, must scour countless rooms and gloomy dungeons in the meticulously detailed settings, rendered with hand-painted 3D graphics.

The Mystery of Whiterock Castle has been designed to be quickly and easily accessible to even the most inexperienced players. The aim is to use the Wii RemoteTM to find and collect numerous hidden objects concealed across ten different settings, either in cooperative mode, competing against other players or in a single player game. The objects are randomly generated and scattered around the levels. Secret nooks and crannies, various multiplayer modes and a high-score list make this game an entertaining adventure that the whole family can enjoy.

Playtainment has achieved a first on WiiWare™ with the release of a title in the successful “hidden object” genre, one of the most popular genres in the casual gaming sector.

“With our entry into one of the biggest online platforms, RTL interactive is paving the way for other German developers in one of the fastest-growing distribution models”, said Birgit Hönsch, head of games publishing at RTL interactive GmbH. “We will increase our online presence over the coming quarters to deliver premium download titles to gamers worldwide.”

The Mystery of Whiterock Castle will be available to download on Nintendo WiiWare™ in summer 2009.
